I welcome you to attend the 2010 Catechist Ministry Day on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Saint Francis High School.
This year's theme - Matrimony: Sacrament of Enduring Love - is especially important for young people today, as well as the whole Church. In the beginning, God made us in His image, male and female, so that through the love of marriage and family, we can flourish as His children. We should not take this teaching for granted. We all need to understand the beauty of Marriage and the divine significance of human sexuality. This is vital for a reasonable, as well as religious view of human dignity. It is also good news and common sense for the society in which we live. It should serve as the backdrop and foundation for everything you do as a catechist - whether it be teaching a religious education class, or working with youth, or helping engaged couples prepare for marriage.
I hope that you will participate in this opportunity for fellowship and enrichment. I am certain the day will strengthen you in your ministry. Together we have the potential to do much good when we work in union with Christ.
May the intercession of our Blessed Mother fill us all with the ardent desire to announce the Gospel of her beloved Son, Jesus.
