RCIA: It Starts in the Heart


St. Augustine of Hippo once said ““Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore, seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand.” Despite this, most inquirers come seeking understanding first. In this workshop we will explore how we move with them from head to heart, from an intellectual investigation of the faith to a lived experience of God.


Fr. Mark Wiesner

Father Mark Wiesner was born in Buffalo, New York in 1962 and moved to Concord, California with his family in 1969. He graduated from De La Salle High School in Concord. Graduating from U.C. Davis in 1985 with a degree in Rhetoric and Communications, Mark spent six weeks on a Summer of Service with Youth with a Mission in Scotland. He worked in the insurance industry for two years before joining the National Evangelization Teams (NET). From August 1987 through August 1988.  Fr. Mark was ordained a priest in 1996.  He has served as an active reserve chaplain at Travis AFB, and at several parishes in the Oakland Diocese.  Fr. Mark has also served as Director of Communications and Media Relations for the Diocese of Oakland.  Currently, he serves as pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Livermore, CA.
